We are pretty sure it is some kind of jelly.But, we had an interesting debate about whether or not it was a horseshoe crab without its shell that got stranded.

It's hard to tell from this photo, but if it has that purplish irridescent look, it could very well be a small man-o-war. Look at pics of those and see what you think.
They used to get washed up on the Pensacola beaches a lot.
