Sunday Dog Pawty

We went to a dog pawty today. It was for small breed dogs. It was so fun, and the dogs really loved it. Everyone was friendly, and Joy and Milo were very well behaved. They have been with loads of other dogs, so they were actually the first to be let off the leash for a run-around. Before we got there, everyone still had their dogs on the leash and there was quite a bit of barking.

Milo doesn't really like to play, so much, but Joy does. There was a cocker spaniel puppy there that was giving her a run for her money. They both like to make new friends.

They love each other best of all. It was cute to see how they would run around and then back to each other for a quick sniff and then off again, Joy kept checking in with her pack after every interaction she had with other dogs.

They are now exhausted, and snoring in their beds. Oh, they are snoring in one bed.

Sweet Kitty

Well, maybe our cat reads this blog when he is out and about, because he has ceratinly turned things around. Formerly the killer cat, he is now the sweet kitty. He even hangs out with the dogs, which I really can't believe!

Yay Tom!

So, the Barnstable Patriot this week was all about Tom *grin*.

He was recently appointed the new assistant Town Manager, and you can read all about it here.

In a funny side bar article (that was on page 2! Gotta love a small town!), it has been determined that Buddy can remain Town Dog, and that there is no evidence of nepotism. But, now I wonder if Joy and Milo have to be out the running until Tom steps down?

After a Bath

Now that it is cold and not dog show season, Ella doesn't have to bathe them as much. But, we did yesterday. They snuggled together in front of the heater under the kitchen sink. Are they cute or what?

Best Buddies

How cute is this? We love these dogs. Lately we are really in love with Joy's cute (or so ugly she's cute?)-ness, because she has had a cone on for weeks! She is no longer in contact with the aliens.
She jumped on and off Declan about 6 times last night and he never woke up. It was so funny.

Stella and Ella

Stella is the newest member of our extended dog family. She is Meg and Pat's and she is the sweetest love. She has even melted Bags's heart, they are so cute together. This picture shows her personality perfectly. That is Bags's tail right in the corner of the picture.

In case you are wondering, Stella is a Bassador, which is a Basset Labrador mix. It is an incredibly cute combo, and pretty much just how you would imagine the mix would look. There are tons of photos of bassadors on flikr and you can see one here.

Dogs, dogs, dogs.....

Someone forwarded this to me, and as I am having to having a '"firm hand" with the dogs after all the travelling we've been doing, I thought it was funny.

Dear Dogs -

When I tell you to move, it means go someplace else; not switch positions with each other so there are still two dogs in the way.

The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your dish and your food; nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help, because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king-size bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue to sleep on the couch to ensure your comfort. Look at videos of other dogs sleeping. They can actually curl up in a ball. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out at one end and having tongues hanging out the other to maximize your space is nothing but doggy sarcasm.

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, try to turn the knob, or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. In addition, I have been using bathrooms for years; canine attendance is not mandatory.

The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog's butt. I cannot stress this enough. It would be such a simple change for you.

Fall at the Beach (and no, not off the lifeguard chair)

We had an amazing evening at the beach yesterday with the doggies.

It always feel like a gift to me to be at the beach after Labor Day. A hold-over I guess from school days.

We stayed until it got dark, and Ella jumped and jumped off the lifeguard chair.

That Joy loves Declan. She does whatever he asks her to do. Me, she just follows around, but Declan is her special love, I think.

Milo was snuffling and snuffling and came across a jelly fish. It was really beautiful, but I always think that then it is going to kill us. I know, I am totally paranoid about jellyfish (and don't get me started about TICKS).
